· Performance,starting dance,nervous,mindset

When a group I'm in charge of is nervous before a performance, I always tell them "Good!"

Being nervous about something means you care. I would rather have a student who is buckling at the knees than a student who didn't care about the outcome of a performance.

The same thing applies to those starting dance. As people, we don't want to embarrass ourselves. We don't want to fail. In turn, we get nervous when we start dance.

I tell my performers to channel that nervous energy into their performance. If you want to start dancing or just started, and you're nervous? That's good. It means you care.

Don't stop. Do it nervous.
