To be an influencer on any platform - as a choreographer, instructor, or online personality - comes with preconceived ideas. The biggest by far is that in order to influence someone, they must be below you.
Influence is "the capacity to have an effect on the character, development, or behavior of someone..." and the moment we believe that we cannot be influenced by our followers, students, or mentees? Is the moment that pride has stopped us from growing.
I have taught countless students of all ages. During the class, I am "above them" as their instructor, but I can guarantee that I have learned so much more from them about dance and about life.
Remember to listen as much as you talk and learn as much as you teach.
